Needs Assessment
- Determine if the communications infrastructure meets current and future agency needs
- Identify deficient areas within their network that are causing or could potentially cause inefficiencies, slowdowns, or network failures that could negatively impact operations or cost
- Identify agency network operations, administration, maintenance, and management capabilities
- Identify the scale and rate at which the infrastructure needs to grow and the services that need to be provided to meet current and projected operational needs.
Technology Evaluation and Assessment
- Out of the myriad of communications technologies currently available, determine which technology or group of technologies is best suited to fulfill assessed needs
- Identify technology solutions that leverage existing infrastructure and conform to agency operational support capabilities
- Perform proof-of-concept testing to determine viability and applicability of new technologies and architectures.
Master Plans
Now that we have identified the needs and technology required to fulfill those needs, we need a plan to put it all into action -- a Communications Master Plan.
A Communications Master Plan provides a foundation from which specific projects can be developed in order to achieve goals set forth in the plan.
